Dyke Yaxley Director, Rob Whittall, who splits his time between the UK and the USA is flying the flag for British business thanks to his new role.
Rob, who runs the DY office in Cleveland, Ohio has been appointed as the President of the British American Chamber of Commerce, also based in Ohio.
He’s already held a number of posts within the organisation, including time as Treasurer and a Board Member, but this will be his first time at the helm.
“I’m very honoured to have been given this opportunity and I will apply the unique perspective and experience I’ve built up during my 25 years working with companies in the UK and the US to develop the Chamber’s contribution to the marketplace,” said Rob.
During his presidency, Rob’s goals will include: strengthening business relationships between the UK and US; increasing membership; expanding educational programmes focused on best practices; and working more closely with UK business chambers to help members maximise the benefits of doing business in the US.
“I have spent many years researching and networking to develop a portfolio of corporate and individual clients who need both UK and/or USA tax or accounting advice in my role as head of Dyke Yaxley’s first overseas office.
“Many of those corporate clients are UK companies who are looking to expand into the US, and during my time in America, I work with their team to help translate the way the US tax and accountancy systems are run.
“Of the 200 international destinations for Ohio products and services, the UK is the state’s fourth largest global trading partner, with $1.6 billion of experts every year sent to Britain, so to be asked to head up the British American Chamber is a huge honour,” said Rob.
More than 500 UK companies have subsidiaries and operations in Ohio, with investments valued at billions of dollars and accounting for tens of thousands of jobs in the American city, and the BACC Ohio is one of the most active Chambers in the British-American Business Council.
“As president, my goals for BACC Ohio over the next two years include building on the already strong business relationships between the UK and the US, and increasing our membership. I’ve seen Dyke Yaxley’s USA presence established on a firm footing and now my aim is to ensure the BACC Ohio goes from strength to strength too.”
