We were hungry accountants at our Shrewsbury office last week and raised over £100 for charity with our latest cake sale!
Here at Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants, in Old Potts Way, Shrewsbury, we regularly put our baking skills to the test to help raise money for our chosen causes.
And this year’s event – with an American Independence Day theme – has proved another great success.
Marketing Co-ordinator, Jackie Young, leads our team behind the fundraising efforts, and she agreed that we had really entered into the spirit of the stars and stripes theme this year.
“We had a whole host of creations and we’re so grateful to everyone who took to the kitchen to create a masterpiece – there were all kinds of tasty treats on offer including cupcakes, yum yums, doughnuts, chocolate biscuit cakes, rocky road, lemon drizzle cakes, and a coffee and walnut cake.
“Our winner of the Best Bake title was Hayley Price who created a gigantic doughnut cake made with six cartons of cream which she whipped by hand, a lot of doughnuts and fresh strawberries!
“The money we’ve raised will now be split between our chosen charities at the end of our financial year, along with any other money we raise throughout our year of fundraising.”
This year the Dyke Yaxley team have chosen to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes.
“Every year we nominate two causes who will benefit from all the activities we arrange over 12 months, and as ever, we’re incredibly thankful to everyone who supports our efforts.” – Jackie
The latest fund raiser follows hot on the heels of our latest donation of £3,500 which was split between the Lingen Davies Cancer Appeal and Severn Hospice following last year’s campaign.
