We’ve been working hard to raise vital funds for two local charities.
Staff from both our Shrewsbury and Telford offices have raised over £1,000 each for Stay Telford and the Shrewsbury Samaritans.
The donations take our charity total to almost £3,500 in the last 12 months, and staff are becoming increasingly creative in their approach to fund raising efforts.
Jackie Young, who leads our charity fund raising efforts, said “We’ve done all kinds of activities to encourage people to sponsor us – from the more traditional cake sales and an Easter egg raffle, to a dinner with former England cricketers, marathon runs and a sweep on The Grand National.
“We know finances are tight for everyone, and so we believe it’s important to come up with fund raising efforts that really capture people’s imagination in the hope they will be generous with their support.”
“Each year we nominate a charity or charities with the aim of raising as much cash as possible, with the Shrewsbury Samaritans and Stay Telford being this year’s lucky nominees.
“Our aim was to raise £2,000 in total, so we’ve smashed our original target and we’re extremely grateful that everyone has been so supportive.”
This latest success follows hot on the heels of another great effort last year when the Charity Team donated over £3,000 to the Severn Hospice.
“We have now chosen two new charities for the coming year – West Midland Autism and the Shrewsbury Parkinson’s Society – and we’ll be working hard to ensure we achieve a similar result for them too.”
