Dairy farmers from across Shropshire will get the chance to learn from the experts at an industry forum later this month.
The Dairy Farming Forum will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, from 7pm to 9.30pm at Shrewsbury Town Football Club, Greenhous Meadow, in Shrewsbury.
Host for the evening will be Steven Corfield, the Head of Agriculture and Rural Services at FBC Manby Bowdler Solicitors, and he will introduce three experts who could make a real difference to farmers in the local area.
One of the guest speakers will be Dyke Yaxley’s Mark Griffiths, who will explain why succession planning is crucial to ensure a secure future.
“I am very pleased to be joining the expert panel at the forum and I believe we will be able to pass on some invaluable advice to dairy farmers that could transform the way they run their business,” said Mark.
“We will be updating our guests on the latest changes that are affecting the dairy farming sector, and the impact they will have on farmers and their business as a whole.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for farmers to meet a team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals and to ask the questions that directly affect their individual situations.”
Also speaking on the night will be Becky Floate from The Dairy Group who will discuss production costs and the state of the industry in general, and Sarah Baugh of FBC Manby Bowdler, who will cover Common Agricultural Policy reform, greening and the implications for local businesses.
“We’d like to invite dairy farmers from across the local region to join us for this informative and interactive session, but places are strictly limited so it’s vital that anyone interested in attending should register in advance,” said Mark.
Anyone who would like more information or who would like to confirm their place should contact Jackie Young at Dyke Yaxley on 01743 241281 or email
jackie.young@dykeyaxley.co.uk.
“The dairy industry has seen some extremely tough times lately, and our aim is to help local dairy farmers prepare for the future with confidence,” said Mark.
