Generous staff from a Shropshire accountancy firm have raised over £3,500 for a county charity.
The team from Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants, in Shrewsbury, have presented a cheque to the Shropshire Down’s Syndrome Group after a series of fund-raising activities.
Jackie Young, who has helped to co-ordinate the company’s charity efforts, said the presentation was their second charity donation of the year – they have also donated over £600 to the Severn Hospice.
“We are so grateful to everyone who has supported our fund-raising initiatives and it’s so great to see the money we have raised going to such deserving causes.
“Our latest cheque for £3,521 will make a real difference to the families involved with the Shropshire Down’s Syndrome Group, and knowing that makes all our efforts all the more worthwhile.”
Dyke Yaxley Managing Director, Laurie Riley, presented the cheque to Group Chairman Simone Goward and her son, Lucas.
The support group is made up of families who have a child, teenager, or young adult with Down’s Syndrome. They organise regular events and outings as a way of getting together and having fun, with a chance to catch up with friends.
And this year’s charity donations are not the first for Dyke Yaxley – the company is renowned for its fund-raising efforts and staff have raised thousands of pounds over the years.
Other charity efforts by the firm have included:
- Grand National sweep stake
- Cake sale
- Quiz Night
- Poker Night
- Dinner with cricket stars
- Christmas card donations
- Badminton Marathon
- Race Night
