Dyke Yaxley had a fantastic afternoon at the Macmillan Coracle World Championships 2019 on the 13th September in Shrewsbury on the River Severn.
Our Dyke Yaxley team were extremely difficult to find in the office on the morning of the race, some might say they were hard to spot!
Many of the teams including our team wore fancy dress we chose ‘Where’s Wally’.
The Team of four Hayley Price, Rhian Jarvis, Lauren Gorman and Mark Pimblett headed down to Pengwern Boat Club for a quick practice before the race took place at 2.30pm.
Our team had one minor mishap during the practice run, resulting in one of our team members capsizing the Coracle! Luckily the sun was shining down over the river and they were dry in no time.
The race was very close with our team off to a flying start, one by one the team paddled their way across the river and back again in a relay fashion. Colleagues stood on the river bank cheering the team on all the way. The atmosphere and event was brilliant.
Dyke Yaxley raised £205 for Macmillan Cancer Support and are looking forward to entering a team again next year!
